What can you use the app for?

Hypejar is a wiki for products that will be released in the future. The website lets users share information on items they are anticipating. Just about anything a person could want is covered, from electronic gadgets to movies, TV series, automobiles, books and music. Visitors can search by keyword or browse the category list. Each item page includes detailed information, a video (if available), images, social network sharing tools and a hype bar. Users can hype up or hype down an item to share their opinion and see what the rest of the community thinks about its upcoming release. Some items are only days away from release while others may be weeks, months or even years away.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Hypejar was created to give users a unique way to follow the products they love that haven’t been released yet. The application has earned itself quite a bit of attention from users and reviewers. It also gives exciting new products a platform to gain popularity before they become available. The site currently offers over 1,000 products with that number growing as new items are shared by its users.

What are the differences to other apps?

There seems to be a wiki for just about everything on the web today. Hypejar is different because it takes this common format and gives it an exciting new purpose. While most sites focus on items that can be purchased now, Hypejar lets users share and discover products that haven’t seen the light of day yet. Users can learn more and track progress by adding the item to their personal jar.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

Hypejar applies its own layer of modern personality to the classic wiki. The colorful logo catches the eye and complements the few brilliant buttons found throughout the site. Each item is listed in a Pinterest style box so users can glimpse an image with a few details to whet their appetite before diving into the product page to learn more. The design is very user friendly and has a fun style that doesn’t interfere with the first time visitor’s ability to navigate.

How does the registration process work?

A new user can click the red “Join Hypejar” link in the upper, right hand corner of the page. A pop up box appears and asks for a username, email address and password. A blue button is found to the right for anyone who wants to sign up with their Facebook account. Those who submit the form are advised that a confirmation email will be sent to their inbox. This must be accessed before signing in for the first time.

What does it cost to use the application?

Hypejar is available to all users for free. Visitors are not required to create an account to browse, but one is needed to access personalized features. Charging a fee would only deter most users from trying Hypejar. Free is the perfect price to encourage more users to join the growing community and share information and opinions on highly anticipated products.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Hypejar is a great tool for anyone who loves to stay on top of new technology and entertainment. The site primarily focuses on these two areas although other categories are covered including automobiles, athletic shoes, Legos and more. Anyone tracking an upcoming product and add it to the Hypejar collection to see what others think while sharing what they know about it.
